Climate Control: Humidity Control

Controlling the humidity is one of the most critical HVAC needs for cultivation crops indoors.  How humidity is controlled will depend on location, the type of structure, the facility layout, and on the crop itself. For example, if you are growing a tomato crop in greenhouse that is located in a dry or temperature climate like Colorado or California, you are more likely to need active humidification to add moisture to the air, simultaneously benefiting from evaporative cooling.  If you are growing in a warehouse or insulated building, you will need dehumidification to remove moisture transpired by the plants, regardless of crop type and facility location.  And if you so choose to operate a greenhouse in a humid climate, where the outside air has little to no capacity to absorb more moisture, dehumidification can be used to help you push through those tough summer months when ventilation alone is insufficient.

Controlling the humidity "in" (or should it say, "is"?) one of the most critical HVAC needs for cultivation crops indoors.
